Gina McCartney is the Executive Manager of Residential Marketing & Events at the REA Group. She has also been recently recognised as a top 50 real estate industry influencer, and is a humanistic leader inspiring others to lead change.
In her segment, she discusses the changes she sees for the real estate industry in 2019.
Brad Inman spoke about the supernova during the conference and mentioned how it’s really an opportunity for stars to dwindle or really flourish. Gina believes that the real estate industry in Australia is going through its own supernova. Leaders need to step up and lead their teams through change, because if we don’t have that resilience and leadership, no one is going to get anywhere.
Change is also coming in quickly for the industry, she mentions. It used to be that agents can afford to ignore new developments and just keep working because the industry didn’t really change, but now, Gina believes that they can’t afford to do that. “If you don’t pop your head up and see what’s out there, you’re going to get left behind.”
Customers are also becoming more informed, the market looks like it will favor them, so agents need to understand what they’re looking for.
Gina also believes that 2019 is going to be a really interesting year for the industry. Their company will be focusing on providing more insights data and research to agents, helping them feel ready, confident and secure in what they’re doing. Personal branding and helping agents market themselves is also a priority for the company.
